I walked over to the window, grabbing a knife and a long loaf of bread.  I opened the icebox and got some cheese.  I peered out the window in the general direction Jamie was looking.  I cut the bread and cheese by feel alone, watching. Roughly a minute in, tentacles briefly rose up higher than the three story houses were tall, then disappeared into the cityscape. “Man, I hate this town sometimes,” I said.

It takes every inch of Roy's self control not to laugh at the childishly exaggerated expression of disgust on Jamie's face. "Swallow it," he growls, clenching his teeth mainly just to keep from grinning with them. "All of it." Jamie whines, sharp and high, but he slurps the rest of the wriggling piece of octopus into his mouth. "Chew thoroughly," Roy reminds him. "I'm not reaching into your throat to pull it out if it sticks." Jamie whines again, longer and higher, but still he obeys. He waves his hands around, stomps his feet, gags, eyes squeezed shut so hard it looks like it hurts. But he obeys. When he's finished with the morsel, Jamie brattily opens his mouth and lifts his tongue to show Roy he swallowed it. Roy snorts, but he takes a moment of mercy and offers Jamie a sip of his soju. "This is the worst thing you've ever made me do," Jamie complains after he's taken an inadvisably large gulp of liquor. "It's good for you," Roy says, no longer bothering to hide his amusement. Jamie glares at him. "Can't get that much raw taurine in one shot anywhere else." "I don't even know what that is," Jamie grumbles, pouting down at his writhing plate. "And that's why I'm in charge," Roy says. "Now eat up. Finish it all." Jamie whines again, and Roy's grin breaks free. He loves that noise much more than is appropriate, but as long as Jamie keeps letting him over line after line Roy will keep crossing them. "Why?" Jamie complains - no, laments. Roy lets his grin go a little sharper, takes another step closer to the next line. "Because I told you to," he murmurs, low and threatening and sexy in a way he's found out the hard way most people don't actually find that sexy. "And you'll do anything I say. Won't you?" Jamie swallows so hard, if Roy didn't know any better he'd say he'd got a sucker stuck to his throat after all. He shivers slightly, shifts conspicuously in his seat, and - with a trembling hand - plucks up another tentacle and pops it into his mouth.

Food Court

A nice place to just sit back, grab some lunch, and decompress for the rest of the mall’s stress. The name sign has been long destroyed because of there having been a local online trend a while back of how many things you could throw at it without the staff getting pissed (turns out a lot until it almost fell on the girl who works the grill), but even so the food’s so good that you don’t really need a title or brand! (No one let them know this was the real life Mr Meaty’s)

Ommitsu Kobayashi (He/it)

Ommitsu Kobayashi is a shy, quiet human. He doesn't have much of an opinion on anything, and mostly sticks to making the coffee. Despite this, he seems to get a lot more talkative when his boyfriend, Vincent, is around. According to Ommitsu, Vinny is just the only guy who can handle its energy. And this shyness means that no one who works the food court is gonna know why he occasionally brings that rabbit mask and bat to work.

Parker Ratson (She/Her)

Parker Ratson is a normal human girl. Yep, that’s it! She works the grills and deep fryers in the food court and is great at juggling them, but she’s just a nice normal human girl. She’s a ray of sunshine in the usually dark food court, and almost seems oblivious to the chaos happening around her most of the time. Her coworkers certainly appreciate her enthusiasm. If anyone insults her or, god forbid, attempt to hurt her? There WILL be problems with the rest of her crew mates.

Jamie Redfield (He/They)

Jamie Redfield is the cashier and a COMPLETELY human guy, yep! He might move stiffly and walk like he’s more used to walking on multiple legs, but he’s completely human! He’s too thin and boney to be a kraken in a human suit. Also, he’s known Parker for basically their whole life, and she knows he’s human - like her! He’s just tired of all the nonsense going on at the mall, and wants to live a normal life, so stop bugging him about the tentacles in his sleeves!

Cedar “Melancholy” Kingsley (He/Him)

Ah, Cedar. He's a gloomy dude who rarely comes out of the kitchen, and he’s been like this his whole life. He used to be happy and social, back when he did track, but a massive leg injury put a swift end to his career. And things only got worse after he got hired, because after work one day he got abducted and forcibly modified into a drider by Misery’s Cult. They claimed he was the reincarnation of the dead King of Hell, Melancholy. Nowadays, after escaping, Cedar’s got a whole slew of issues including a fear of leaving the mall alone and often lapsing into moments when enraged where it seems like he IS the reawakened Melancholy. To all his coworkers, and his twin sister, he’s still just Cedar: guy at the Gatwick Food Court who makes the bomb ass sandwiches.

COMPLETELY HUMAN GUY JAMIE YOU KNOW WHAT? I TRUST HIM FULLY TO BE JUST A NORMAL HUMAN :)

Jamie's Got Tentacles is the single most terrifying thing I have ever seen. I watched five minutes of this children's cartoon and I was disturbed for the rest of my life. I get nausea just thinking about it.

The drawing style is so simple too and I think that just makes it worse. I'd attach an image but I'm scared I'd get the urge to vomit while downloading it.

A Hungarian mine cave housed the gigantic Troll Market set, one of the biggest built for Hellboy II — a vibrant, busy environment filled with practical and digital creatures — which Del Toro wanted to deviate from usual design standards. “Each artist was free to bring forth as many sketches of creatures as they wanted,” Del Toro explained. “The only condition was to veer away from ‘movie monsters’ and make the creatures more surreal and exotic, reference things other than film: engravings from the middle ages, Hieronymus Bosch, the arabian tales, etc, etc. Barlowe had the best batting average… 8 out of 10 of his designs made it to the screen. But we treated these creatures like extras. We seldom, if ever showcased them — I felt this was crucial to treat the market like you would any other location… to make it real.”

Most of the surreal characters were built by Creature Effects, Solution Studios and Filmfex Studios as background suits with animatronic elements and extensions. Creature Effects contributed to the limb vendor (played by Matt O’Toole), the cat vendor — a bird-like creature suit with leg extensions, played by Jamie Wilson — and the organ grinder, played by Kevin Hudson. Cliff Wallace related: “the limb vendor is a Wayne Barlowe design and his head is basically a big bone with goggles and a mask. The cat seller has a bird-like face, but very strange mechanical leg extensions. I think the thing that’s interesting about Barlowe and the reason his stuff works so well is that it’s stuff that a normal designer wouldn’t put together. It’s stuff that really shouldn’t work, and that’s what makes his stuff unique.”

Among those suits, the organ grinder was the most peculiar construction. “The Organ Grinder is actually a small guy but built up to human size,” Wallace explained, “because the design demanded that he had a very thin neck that you really couldn’t do on a human. He also had very wide shoulders, so you’ve got a thin guy that’s built up to human size, with mechanical arms that are driven by this organ that he carries around.” Completing the look of the character was a small digital bogart.

Creature designer Nigel Booth and his crew contributed to the creation of Silkard, the fish vendor — an aptly-named frog-like tentacled creature that sells fish. The monster was created as a suit worn by Brian Herring, with a radio- and cable-controlled head — able to perform lip synchronization, eye rotation and eye bulging — as well as cable-controlled tentacles. All the mechanical features were devised by Ady Parish and Jared Manly. The creature’s skin was cast in semi-translucent silicone.

The tadpole vendor was another Solution Studios creation. “There’s a very large walkabout suit called the tadpole vendor,” said Leo Burton, part of the Solution Studios crew, “and that utilized a six foot seven actor inside to carry this enormous suit. The character carries these jugs of water on his back which are very heavy, so this poor guy was wandering around the set, but that was a animatronic suit, so we loved working on that.” Silicone ‘tadpoles’ were sculpted by Colin Shulver and put inside the tanks.

That's probably a long one, but here goes- Daniel and Mary both have very dark skin and dark brown hair. Daniel's is short and well-kempt, Marys locks are long and open most of the time. She has grey eyes and his are a darkish brown. Both are pretty tall, but Mary also has a lot of muscle and Daniel... not so much. He has a wooden arm tough, which is made of dark wood to match. Avery has yellow eyes that glow in the dark, olive skin and long black hair. Her teeth are very sharp and she's pretty strong, mostly in the legs. She has claws, too. Ozan has almond skin and black hair as well, tough his is dyed. He's in a self-propelled wheelchair and his legs are missing just after they start. He's strong and has a lot of piercings and tatoos. Jamies skin is very light and her brown hair is short and messy. (She can, of course, change her appearance completely in the dark and come out looking like anything, but this is the form she chooses to represent her as a human.) She is also pretty small, but another form Jamie likes is a big wolf or fox. Jane has light skin as well, but her face and part of the upper body are made of intricately carved birchwood. Her hair is long enough so she can tie it up in a bun or ponytail sometimes. Camillas hair is long too. It's very straight and red and has moss growing on it, which also grown on other parts of her light skin every here and there. She wears round glasses and a giant jacket with a lot of pockets, all of which are filled with dirt and plants. There's also always at least like a hundred bugs on her, if not more. She has four arms and is pretty much a walking garden. Leon is a kind of see-through black and white ghost child. His hair is short and black and curly and there's always a black stream of tears coming from his eyes. Jackson has shoulder-length blone locks and freckles. He wears hawaiian shirts sometimes. Tara has tan skin, long blonde locks and blue eyes. They're very pretty and have a quite androgynous face. Mikaela has a very smiliar skin tone, tough perhaps slightly lighter, and spikey punk hair that goes from red to yellow towards the top. They wear sunglasses and below them, their eyes burn like fire. Esther is an old lady with dark skin. Her wheelchair also functions as a loom and she wears a purple hijab. Toby has brown locks and honey skin, he's pretty tall. Arthur has dark skin with freckles like the night sky and it can seem like the stars shine in his eyes as well. His hair is dark too. George is a baby with lots of strange limbs and tentacles. Granny is an old asian woman with sharp teeth, yellow robes and light blonde hair. How many limbs does she have? Uncountable, literally. OKAY, PHEW!! That was... a lot.

Mary and Daniel do, yes, and their mother did look similar to hers. Tara has some likelyness with Granny and Esther too, but Toby doesn't. Leon, Camilla and George are adopted, so no and I... don't know the rest of their parents, tough I imagine Avery looks a lot like hers save for the more monstery features.

They have powers because their paths in life led them to be noticed by one power or the other... Esther probably made sure the people she had acess to got a patreon as well. They feed their patreon through fear (This is where you can see most prominently where they were originally 'supposed to be' lmao). Most feed their patreon to keep it sated and become more powerful in the process, tough some (Toby, Arthur, Leon) are just doing their thing and it works out somehow.

Toby, Mary, Daniel, Ozan,, Jackson Avery, Jane and Esther know how to drive. Leon is a child that passes through objects, Camilla hates cars, Tara doesn't care much for them but can steer a ship, Arthur and Jamie can transport themselves through supernatural means and Granny... should not be put in a driver's seat for any reason ever. She might spontaniously manifest the knowledge to drive if it was very important, tough. And forget it just as fast once the crisis is over.

A few of them have positive bonds, but mostly they stay away from each other as much as they can. If they do meet, the interactions are very hostile and fights break out even with Jackson around. So far no one has killed each other, but that's not for lack of trying.

Daniel has a lot of them, most are of his abduction or parents and sometimes both mush in that weird dream kinda way. Toby sometimes dreams of everyone he accidentally stole happiness from shouting and screaming at him, distraught, which makes him stay inside even more for a few days afterwards. Camilla has dreams of fire and the absolute death of nature, a barren wasteland where the only spot of colour is a pink car.

I... I have no concrete person in mind yet, actually. But someone sure fucked them up royally. They were probably pretty rich and influential, tough, one of those people that you can't touch, in a way.

I have kinda misread that as "what is the family gossip" hings you might be told in dark alleways or when someone has had a bit too much to drink: Avery has daddy issues (It's true that he wasn't very kind) - Avery has mommy issues (Very complicated relationship) - Daniel once tried to lift a branch and fell over (That's true) - Jamie has eaten one of his students (He has not. Not yet.) - Ozan doesn't actually have a doctorate (Yeah he just walked in and took the place) - Jane eats things made of wood (I... don't think so, at least) - Mikaela used to be in a band so bad that people once payed them to leave (Not true) - Esther had something to do with Granny's state of mind (I don't think so, at least) - Toby has spent days editing and perfecting wikipedia articles (He does that, yeah) - Camilla serves rotten food at her restaurant (She does) - Mary regularily gets into fights (Oh, absolutely) - Jane has accidentally killed someone (Throwing knifes is harder than it looks, okay?) TO GET TO THE ACTUAL QUESTION: Jamie, and she'd tell you most of the things above, save for the one about her, Ozan and Avery. Daniels is too funny to leave out.

Mary could probably get got by her storm, Jane has to be careful that there will be something left of her when she's done with her project, Camilla and Mikaela might also accidentally destroy themselves when their power and obsession continue to grow.
